What circumstances forced Mukesh not to pursue his family business of making bangles? What else did he decide to do?

Mukesh desired to be his own master all the time. He was a true lover of liberty. Moreover, he knew how his elders had to toil all the time in order to get a morsel of food. He was aware of the fact that the profession of making bangles brings premature blindness. Such a vocation would do nothing but gift an impoverished life to the banglemakers. Such circumstances, therefore, forced Mukesh not to pursue his family business of making bangles.

Hence, he decided to drive a car. He desired to be a motor mechanic. On being asked by the narrator whether he knew anything about cars, he confidently answered that he would learn to drive a car. Anyway, he wanted to live his dream.
