 Mamoni Raisom Goswami (14 November 1942 – 29 November 2011), known by her pen name Mamoni Raisom Goswami and popularly as Mamoni Baideo, was an Indian writer, poet, professor, scholar and editor. She was the winner of the Sahitya Akademi Award (1983), the Jnanpith Award (2000) and Principal Prince Claus Laureate (2008). A celebrated writer of contemporary Indian literature, many of her works have been translated into English from her native Assamese which include The Moth Eaten Howdah of the Tusker, Pages Stained With Blood and The Man from Chinnamasta.

She was born in Guwahati, Assam, and studied Assamese literature at Cotton College in Guwahati. She began her writing career as a teenager, and her first collection of short stories, Chinaki Morom, was published in 1962. She went on to write novels, short stories, essays, poems, and plays. Her work often deals with themes of gender, identity, and social change.

Mamoni Baideo was a respected figure in Assamese society, and her work was widely acclaimed. She was awarded the Sahitya Akademi Award in 1983 for her novel Arunya, and the Jnanpith Award in 2000 for her novel The Moth Eaten Howdah of the Tusker. She was also awarded the Padma Bhushan, the third highest civilian award in India, in 2007.

She died in Guwahati in 2011. Her death was mourned by people all over Assam, and her work continues to be read and appreciated by readers around the world.
