Who is known as Bodafa in Assam?
Upendra Nath Brahma

 Upendra Nath Brahma, also known as Bodofa, was a Bodo social activist and the former president of the All Bodo Students' Union (ABSU). He was born on March 31, 1957, in Bogari village, Kokrajhar district, Assam. He was a brilliant student and graduated from Kokrajhar College and later completed post-graduate studies from Gauhati University.

Bodofa was a visionary leader who fought for the rights of the Bodo people. He was instrumental in the formation of the Bodoland Autonomous Council (BAC) in 1993. He was also a strong advocate for peace and harmony between the Bodo and non-Bodo communities.

Bodofa was assassinated on May 1, 1990, by suspected ULFA militants. He was only 33 years old at the time of his death. However, his legacy lives on and he is still remembered as a great leader and a martyr for the Bodo cause.

The title of Bodofa (Guardian of Bodos) was posthumously conferred upon Brahma on 8 May 1990 in recognition of his vision and leadership. His life is celebrated each year on the anniversary of his death, which is now called Bodofa Day. A 21-foot-tall (6.4 m) bronze statue of him was unveiled in Kokrajhar on the tenth anniversary of his death.

Bodofa is a revered figure in Assam and he is considered to be one of the most important leaders in Bodo history. He is a symbol of hope and inspiration for the Bodo people and his legacy will continue to inspire generations to come.
