Who is known as Bhangani Konwar of Assam?

 Ananda Chandra Agarwala is known as Bhangani Konwar of Assam. He was a writer, poet, historian, translator, and administrative officer from Sonitpur district of Assam. He is known as Bhangani Kunwor (ভাঙনি কোঁৱৰ) for his translation of several English poems into Assamese. He was elected as a president of the Asam Sahitya Sabha in 1934 held at Mangaldoi. He was honoured with the title of Raibahadur by the ruling British Government. Ananda Chandra Agarwala was the brother of noted Assamese poet Chandra Kumar Agarwala and uncle of Jyoti Prasad Agarwala, a poet, playwright, composer, lyricist, writer and first Assamese Filmmaker.

Ananda Chandra Agarwala was born on 10 November 1874 in Borangabari, Tezpur, Assam. He was educated at Cotton College, Guwahati and Scottish Church College, Kolkata. He started his career as a teacher in a school in Nagaon. He later joined the Assam Civil Service and served as an administrative officer in various districts of Assam.

Ananda Chandra Agarwala was a prolific writer and poet. He wrote several books on a variety of topics, including poetry, history, and biography. He was also a translator, and he translated several important works into Assamese, including the poems of William Wordsworth and John Keats.

Ananda Chandra Agarwala was a well-respected figure in Assamese society. He was a member of the Assam Sahitya Sabha and the Assam Vidyasabha. He was also a recipient of several awards, including the Padma Bhushan in 1954. He died on 23 December 1940 in Guwahati.
